Struggling to get traffic from Twitter to your website?

Seeing other websites and blogs killing it on Twitter – increasing followers, getting engagement, and more importantly, gain organic Traffic for Free – is obviously tempting, and you should be eager to learn the art to do it yourself.

When it comes to trending, engaging an audience, and sharing new stuff, Twitter is an ideal place. Therefore, entrepreneurs and marketers have been investing in this platform more than any other social network (Facebook’s an exception though).

So, what’s your Twitter Strategy?

The Twitter strategy:

No need to stress already, because there’s no rocket science involved in harnessing the power of this noisy platform. If you work on the basics and follow simple hacks, that would be enough for you to easily tap into your audience and get them to your website. The rest – conversion, sales, etc. – is your thing.

If you haven’t started yet, or you have pretty low followership on Twitter, these tips will help you get noticed by the influencers that matter to your business the most. So, let’s get started.

Add Visuals

Visuals for Twitter

Twitter is not the text-only platform. There’s a wide variety of visual content. Twitter auto expands the images in your tweets. That means adding images to your content is more than important now.

Studies have shown that tweets with image links get twice as much engagement as those without them.

While tweeting, press the camera button on your mobile or desktop to immediately upload an image and attach it to the tweet. In this way, a link to the photo is created. You can also preview the image before posting it.

  • The Images on Twitter should not exceed 3MB size.
  • The format of the image must be GIF, PNG, or JPEG.

No need to scale it manually as the image will be automatically scaled. Plus it will be saved in your user gallery.

Adding images: So, add stunning visuals (links) to grab attention and get retweets and shares. Choose images featuring a strong focal point that draws attention to one particular point.

You can find high-quality images (no copyright) on these image portals:

Use relevant image: When adding a link to your post on the blog, make sure that the image link should be directly related to the subject of your post. For creating the images of your own, you can use GIMPSkitch by Evernote, or Adobe Photoshop

Highly clickable image: The image that has the potential to get a high number of clicks includes:

  • A headline of the post appeared in large text
  • The headline is centered while the image appears behind the text.
  • The image in the background must be relevant to the original post.

Tease Your Twitter Followers

The idea is not to give too much information about the content in your tweet. Keep the reader guessing so that he clicks on the link to get to know the entire story.

So, your tweet must have these features:

Use plain and easy-to-understand words to get a quick response from your audience.

How can you tease your followers? Very Simple!

  • Ask questions that need answers.
  • Don’t go full-stretch. Keep your tweets within 130 characters to increase the chances of getting more clicks.

By giving more room for others to retweet your content will not only help you get more visitors but also improve engagement on Twitter, eventually, you’ll get better ranking and more traffic.

Be Repetitive

Be Repetitive

Who said you cannot repeat the same content a number of times? Yes, it’s bad to do so, but when you do it tactfully, it’ll be beneficial.

See, people tend to miss updates on Twitter. If you think your content has something Really Awesome, that your audience will feel disappointed to miss out, you can share it again and again by altering the text and images in your tweets. But make sure it’s not annoying for them.

Here’s how you can tweet the same link three times with different content.
First instance: Tweet the original headline accompanied by an image link from the blogpost.
Second time: Include a quote accompanied by a link to your article.
Third time: Tweet it with a different image, article link, and a curious question that has the answer in your post.

Schedule your posts with Buffer or HootSuite keeping in mind the best time of the day when your Tweet has maximum visibility. You can also tweet the content on different days, but don’t repeat the same thing more than 3-4 times.

You can reshare the same old content after a few weeks, even months, as long as it has the same relevance. For instance, if it’s evergreen content, it’s worth a reshare every month.

Hijacking Your Bio

Twitter

Now that’s a creative Idea!

When people see you in someone else’s stream or find you in Who to Follow bar, they’ll normally see your profile image, your name, and most probably, your tweet. To find out more, they’ll tap on your profile.

The first thing they’ll notice in your bio is your header photo appearing right at the top (you know that already, don’t you?). But maybe what you don’t know is, you can hijack your bio. How?

  • Add a CTA
  • A short link to your website’s landing page
  • The page must be optimized for Twitter users.

Furthermore, you can utilize the website field to add your latest post or the most popular content on your blog.

This calls for regular updates, right? Quite right, but think about the message it sends to the audience.

  • You’re always present on Twitter, to help and support your audience as well as other people.
  • It gives the impression that you like to keep sending new information to the masses.
  • People will find you creative, so they’ll definitely come to learn some tricks from you.

Finally, use power words to compel your visitors and readers to take the right action – click on your content.

BONUS – Other Quick Tips

  • Follow the “submissive” approach. Ask your audience through Twitter Polls and let them help you find content ideas. Let them mention the issues and challenges they face. Then create content that better address their problems and provide solutions.
  • Build relationships on Twitter by tweeting other people’s content. You can come up with your own input (your blogpost) to take the interaction further. Adopt the 80/20 rule to market your product and services.
  • Hashtags are more engaging than normal tweets. So, use them sparingly in most of your Tweets. Use hashtags.org to brainstorm suitable hashtags for your tweets and posts. And you can find trending hashtags on WhattheTrend to cash on to any opportunity.
